Winter At Juniper Barn

Winter has arrived at Juniper. The nights are closing in and we are almost at the winter solstice. The trees have lost their leaves but the holly berries add a splash of colour and we are so lucky to have two red squirrels hiding in the Beech Trees here. It's been an exciting few months, we have been busy working away on the barns. The walls have all been rendered in traditional lime render, the roof repaired, the cobbles outside reinstated and beautiful bespoke doors have been installed. This week the dance floor is going in this and the bar is now complete, just in time for a little get together for all the local craftspeople and helpers that have helped us to make this dream come true.

For those of you who haven't visited yet, Juniper consists of three beautiful stone barns complete with wooden rafters and modern rustic chandeliers. Our ceremony barn is perfect for civil, humanist or spiritual wedding ceremonies, our banqueting barn can seat up to 120 guests and our adjoining Swallow Barn has a beautiful handmade bar and dance floor ready to party! We are so excited to bring this new and alternative venue to Sligo.

Team Juniper is Chris and Dorothy Kitchin. We live in our family home which has been in Chris' family for generations. The house was built in 1780 or 1790, we're not completely sure!  We feel privileged to live here with our three small children. We try and live in rhythm with the seasons, growing our vegetables, farming our land and embracing everything this beautiful corner of Ireland has to offer.
We are looking to a summer of weddings next year and we have very limited dates available for next summer.  Dates are also beginning to fill up for 2021 for some organised couples! We know Christmas is an exciting time for engagements and lots of you will be home for the holidays so we are opening our doors, lighting the fires and popping the kettle on for some viewings on January 4th and 5th. If you'd like to visit us please email hello@juniperbarn.ie to arrange a time with Dorothy.   We look forward to welcoming you to Juniper xo
