Our Story.

Juniper is the home of Christopher and Dorothy-Ellen Kitchin and their three children.  Having travelled and lived abroad, Christopher and Dor returned to Sligo in 2015 looking to create a new lifestyle in the West of Ireland. They decided to open up their beautiful barns to diversify their farm which is home to many friendly sheep and acres of beautiful broad-leaf forest.

Juniper is located on the Newpark Estate. The house was built in 1780 and the Kitchin family have lived at Newpark since 1912. Newpark has always been home to interesting events including heritage events, equestrian events, charity events, concerts, parties and the gardens are open as part of Sligo’s Secret Gardens. The grounds were also used as a setting for the film ‘Jimmy’s Hall’. Now the barns are used for weddings, concerts, charity events, private parties and filming.

Juniper is an earth conscious venue. Surrounded by gardens, woodlands and a lake, protecting these important habitats is important to our ethos. All wood fires are fuelled by sustainably managed woodlands on the estate.

Waste consumption is reduced where possible or harvested from rainwater, composting is key and goes back into the gardens to replenish the soil, plastic is avoided and alternatives sourced wherever possible. Food waste is reduced and visitors are encouraged to follow the Leave No Trace code of ethics.
